This design has been downloaded almost 14000 times at this point. The stagnation of OSWD updates coupled with this design being on the front page all this time is a brilliant example of how Internet surfers across the board avoid venturing beyond page 1 at all cost. Web designers can learn something about the importance of shallow navigation and search engine optimization from this, I think.

Great design but there's one problem that I spotted, you are using images with white backgrounds to add shadow but you are relying on people's default background color to be white for the body.
People here at work have changed the default background color for windows applications from white to light blue ( something to do with there eyes hurting ) so viewing your design on there computers doesn't look right.
I would suggest setting the body's background color manually to fix this problem.
Over all great design though.

its beautifull but absolute inusable i am sorry but what i see on the screenshot is not what i get if i download the code! please use tables dont divs and absolute css positions

why is this design on the home page and its really old. I see that the people that own this site don't mantain it anymore. which means its going to suck since there are no more news designs being added on this site :-(

This design seems slightly outdated for 2007. It is more of an early 2000s style.

Nice design. Using it for a non-profit, with some changes to the header graphics and color scheme. I like the secondary navigation links and the News box on the side...

I really like this design as its simple to use and the design looks clean and not image heavy.
It allows for real content to be added in the form of text... Although there is only the top navigation more can be added quite easily down the sites without upsetting the overall design of the site.

Design is fine but what about some semantically correct HTML. There is no tag used anywhere and I don't see any header tags either.

Nice! - Amazing.
I am going use RredTie template for my small business site. I already separate the index.html in to few pieces, ex: head.html, page1body.html, news.html and footer.html then call all those files from index.php
Works and Pretty cool.

Overall, this is a really nice design. The one thing you might think to fix though, is your gif image of a tie. You're probably better off using jpeg for that sort of image.
Nicely done though.
